Anyone is Free To Succeed

if you’re DETERMINED enough to.

That one wise, ten letter, three syllable word is the top of the long list of wise things I learned and will always remember after last night’s Free To Succeed Tour, from superstar wedding photographer Jasmine Star. Be DETERMINED. In everything you do, anything you strive for, and you’ll go far.

I arrived embarrassingly late too. Traffic sucked and I almost didn’t even go in anymore, I was that late. But Abs and I went in anyway and everyone was of course seated and David Jay (the most celebrated wedding photographer) had already started the seminar. I scanned the room for two open seats together and saw none. The next thing I know, from my peripheral vision to my left, I see someone in a dark pink dress waving towards me holding up the number two with her fingers. I’m floored. And I gasp! It’s Jasmine Star!!! So I don’t know if you know this yet, but I get star struck like WAY easy lol. But this was different. I was Jasmine Star-struck!! And she was waving at ME! And when I saw again that she was asking “two?” with her two fingers I quickly mouthed, “yes!” and probably was shaking my head like a weird crazy person. And the next thing I know, she had asked some people if they could move one seat down to make room for Abs and I.

Ok so that might seem like, “yeah so what? she did a nice thing, big deal” to some people. But that little act of hers, that even she probably won’t remember, is the epitome of who she is. Nice. Incredibly nice. With an incredible talent not just with the camera, but with people. She definitely had me, and everyone else completely captivated while she spoke. And not just her but DJ! His attitude of helping others is definitely something everyone should model themselves after. And the wealth of information she and DJ gave last night kept my head spinning like crazy even as I drove back home. And even though I got in at close to one in the morning after dropping Abs off, my husband Christopher was sweet enough to wait up for me and my mouth was going a hundred miles an hour trying to recount everything I learned. He was tired though, so I let eventually him sleep :P

So yeah, for all those who are going to the other tour stops, you can see the itinerary as 6pm-10pm and might be going, “OMG is it really that long??” The time, seriously flew by. Well for me at least. I wanted to stay so bad after it was over to thank both DJ and J* for eveything but they were swarmed with other photographers, and rightly so. Well, this will not be the last time I get to be included in such an intimate setting of networking with them and with other amazingly talented people. Because after all, I am DETERMINED to succeed.

….
If you’re a photographer, videographer, or anyone striving to even start their own small business in any field, I highly encourage you to sign up for a tour stop near your city. So many of the things David Jay shares is universal and you do not sit through it with glassy eyes and watching your clock every five minutes. He is engaging and talks to the room at large like a friend. Abs said it best on the drive out of the parking lot: “He’s the kind of person you want as your best friend because he’ll make you constantly want to better yourself.”

The next stop is tonight in Santa Barbara, Ca so click the banner below and sign up today!!

So true! I was there last night as well (though I didn’t get to meet you!) and it was so amazing. I also was talking a mile a minute about it to my boyfriend on the drive home!

Hi Lorelie.

Sorry I didn’t get to meet you last night, but you are the first recipient of some blog love. Take Jasmine’s advice and you’ll be a superstar too!

Lorelei,

I really enjoyed your account of last night. It was a great event, wasn’t it!! And I remember Jasmine asking others to make room… so considerate. Some great work you have here. Thanks for sharing!
