Fifty years of love – Auntie Nani and Uncle Thomas | Virginia Party Event Photographer

As cliche as it sounds, I truly do love love. Love in every sense of the word – in every example we see daily all around us – in God’s beautiful grace. And as I observed my great aunt and great uncle during the party celebrating their 50 wonderful years of marriage, I thought to myself, this is one of the great examples of what real love looks like. Throughout their years together, relishing the good and in spite of the bad, they have trudged on through life as a solid pair, partners hand in hand, husband and wife. Besides the example I strive to follow from my own parents, celebrating this strong bond years from now is important as well for me and my husband.

It was amazing seeing family I haven’t seen in a while and meeting family for the first time (many from Uncle Thomas’ side). The living room and den were filled with different conversations, laughter, reminiscing, and a few happy tears that could warm anybody’s heart. And despite us being there for Auntie Nani and Uncle Thomas, and my cousins (their daughters) Anne Rose and Mary Grace telling us the family presence was the best gift their parents could have received, I would like to express my utmost thanks for their planning and strategizing to get us all together in Virginia. It was doubly rewarding for me to be surrounded by so many great people, sharing so much love.

I can still remember when we would all play as kids, in our town house complex, with the giant gate protecting us from the busy street of cars rushing by. We could ride our bikes and play hide and seek and not worry about a thing, except who was “it”.

Fast forward to now– we’re adults, married, and have left childhood behind. Yeah right! We may be adults and married now, but for my friend Rica and I (and tons of my other friends of course), we couldn’t leave childhood behind even if we wanted to. And why would we ever want to?! My childhood lives on in my kids– in their smiles and cries and happy days and sad days. And my wonderful friend Rica is soon to have her own little one, as she ventures into the role of “Mama” :)

This weekend I had the pleasure of being at Rica’s baby shower, hosted by her sister (another good friend of mine) Sheila, and her cousin Rina. Fun times, and great decor, and yummy bavarian chocolate cake equaled a great party for all who attended!

I forgot to mention, the food was simply fabulous! The party was held at a great Thai restaurant and I definitely stuffed my face :P
